Drill Bit Technical Resources — Selection Guides & Reference Materials
SIRUITE provides free technical resources to help drilling contractors, distributors and well drilling companies select the right drill bit for every formation and application. Our guides are based on 30+ years of drilling industry experience.
PDC Bit vs Tricone Bit — How to Choose
Not sure whether to use a PDC bit or tricone bit for your formation? PDC bits deliver higher ROP in soft to medium-hard formations, while tricone bits offer better adaptability in hard and variable rock. Contact us on WhatsApp and our technical team will recommend the best option for your specific project.
IADC Tricone Bit Classification
The IADC code system classifies tricone bits by formation hardness and bearing type. Series 1–3 are for soft formations, Series 4–6 for medium formations, and Series 7–9 for hard and abrasive rock. Our full range covers IADC 1 through 9 in both steel tooth and TCI configurations.
PDC Bit Application Guide
PDC bits are widely used in water well, oil & gas and geothermal drilling. Key selection factors include number of blades, cutter size, back rake angle and matrix vs steel body construction. We supply steel body and matrix body PDC bits from 2 15/16" to 17½".
DTH Hammer Maintenance Guide
Proper DTH hammer maintenance extends service life significantly. Key practices include correct air pressure settings, regular lubrication, bit shank inspection and flushing procedures between jobs. Contact us for the maintenance manual for your specific hammer series (DHD, SD, QL, Mission or Numa).
Diamond Core Bit Selection Guide
Selecting the right core bit depends on formation hardness, core size and required recovery rate. Impregnated bits suit hard and abrasive rock, surface set bits work best in soft to medium formations, and PDC core bits are ideal for fast drilling in consistent formations. We supply HQ, NQ, PQ and BQ sizes.
Formation Reference Chart
Matching your drill bit to your formation is critical for performance and cost efficiency. We provide formation hardness reference charts for common geological conditions in water well, mineral exploration and geothermal drilling projects.
